On A Shoestring ~ Local Antique/Junk Shop

A few weeks ago my super sweet husband took me out for breakfast and to a local Antique store (the first I've been to in the area since moving).  With the move funds are tight but I saw a bunch of things I wanted needed.

So yesterday I went and added these precious 1960's prints to my collection.  The frames aren't in good condition but the pictures are just perfect for my little girls room.  And since framing was my first crafty endeavour I know I can fix them, or make new ones.

Oh and they gave me a great deal when I said "I want the all or none at all!"  Half price!

But it was these goblets that had been keeping me up at night...calling to me...screaming actually :)  They are silver plate, but that's not a big deal to me, there is not a ding or a scratch on them.  I can't wait to polish them up and use them.  Look for them in an upcoming blog party!

So if you are in the area, make a trip over to On a Shoestring they have some great old windows, furniture, a few typewriters, tons of colored glass, and vintage jewelry.  It is a great place to stop!

Savon Marie ~ An Etsy store Review

A few weeks ago I was in search of something for tomorrows upcoming Practical Magic Blog Party and I ran across SavonMarie on Etsy.  The item I fell in love with was not quite what I needed for my Blog Party but I decided to get it anyway (it was not overly priced) and another item from a different store and compare the two head to head.  Well, SavonMarie came out far better than my other option so I am here to tell you just how wonderful this store and the woman that runs it is!

I purchased Harmony Soap and was almost immediately contact by the owner with a thank you and soon there after with shipping information.  She makes all the soup once the order comes in (as did the other store I ordered from, but I never got any personal messages from them).  About a week later I received this wonderful package (it took almost 3 weeks for the other store to complete my order and their soap was not nearly as pretty).

But the greatness didn't stop there, look at the wonderful extras she sent! And everything was so pretty it made me feel special and want to shop with her again. Ohh and I have failed to mention that the soap is Divine, it smells scrumptious and it feels so luxurious (yes, I am using it, at the price she sells her soap at I feel like I can use it and enjoy it instead of it just being pretty).

I am more than thrilled with my purchase and hope that you check out SavonMarie and enjoy her items as much as I am enjoying mine!

Greer House Antiques Topeka KS

This past summer I drove cross country (again, but hopefully for the last time) to move from CA to AL.  On the way I stopped at a few Antique stores, this one was my favorite.  So if you are ever in Topeka KS stop at Greer House and say Hi to Pam for me.

The building is supposedly the oldest brick building in Topeka.

Pam has a wonderful, very eclectic selection of antiques, her art (altered antiques mostly) and just some fun odds and ends.  I really wanted this old Saloon mirror but alas my car was already full.

Did I mention that her prices were the lowest I have ever seen!

A mint condition pram!

Isn't her staging wonderful!?!

This is the one purchase I did make there, a vintage ceiling tile redone in a shaby chic style.

It's had to see but it's the light pink item in the above picture, look at the wonderful texture it adds to this arrangement of items!  I'm planning on adding some hooks to it and hanging some of my art bits from it.
This was just a small sampling of what she has to offer.  She took me into her "work in progress" room and oh my I wanted everything in there.  She had the most fabulous vintage metal outdoor chairs that I have ever seen!

Hope you enjoyed my tour of Greer House and that you get a chance to stop there.  I'll be uploading pictures from my weekend in Florida soon.

32 North - An Etsy Store Review

A few days ago (5 to be precise) I ordered some items from 32 Degrees North Supplies a new to me Etsy store.  I was looking for some items to use on an upcoming swap I joined for autumn themed ribbon/fabric flowers.  The items I needed in particular were leaves and something to put in the center of my flowers.  I did a search from stamens and this shop pulled up and I was in heaven!

The items shipped to me the same day I ordered them and arrived yesterday!  They were well packaged in a clear cellophane bag wrapped inside newspaper.  I am most pleased with my purchase, the descriptions of her items were spot on and I will be purchasing from this store again.

The fabric behind the items is what I plan on using to make my flowers so you can see how perfect the colors match (I will be aging the yellow flowers a bit).

Now to find the time to make my flowers.
