Christmas Decorations

Gillian has also issued this fabulous challenge over at Mixed Media Monday. Gillian’s challenge to you is to create a Christmas ornament or decoration, that can be hung on the tree, in a window, etc.

Today over at One Powerful Hour the Guest Designer Joanne W. Has challenged us to make Christmas Ornaments. There is also a fabulous Rubber Stamp give away from Inka Stamps for one lucky participant.

Here are my ornaments. Both of the images are from Alpha Stamps as well as the fabulous 2 x 2 inch square ornament. I am also using these pieces for a swap hosted through the Alpha Stamps yahoo group. If you are not a member you should be!

For the ornament on the right I used the Alpha Stamp image and then I added the three little Santa's at the bottom (also from Alpha Stamps). On the outside of the glass I places the circular 3D sticker that says "Merry" and all around the metal edge I affixed using diamond glaze red rhinestones. To finish of this fun ornament i added some fabulous Christmas ribbons.

Because the ornaments are so fun and easy to make I made another on.

This one also uses a collage image from Alpha Stamps. The snowflakes are stamped with versa mark and then I used pearl ex powder to turn them an iridescent shimmery gold.

On the outside I covered the metal ornament with gold glitter and affixed a gold Christmas tree that was part of a ribbon. To finish it off I affixed the gold rick rack...

Hope you like my ornaments. they were supper fun to make and easy. Thanks Joanne for the fabulous challenge!

Here is a bit more about the Guest Designer...

My name is Joanne Wardle, and I have been cardmaking for about 5 years. My main love now is stamping, but it took me a while to get into it. I love to try stamping onto different surfaces. I am also a complete challenge addict, so I'm really pleased to have chosen this theme, of Christmas decorations, for One Powerful Hour.

4 and 20 Blackbirds

For the past few days I have been tossing ideas around for the One Powerful Hour challenge of "Feathered Friends" It wasn't until I surfed over to Mixed Media Monday that inspiration hit me.

Mixed Media Monday wanted us to use numbers in our pieces this week. When i saw that i was instantly reminded of a childhood nursery rhyme "Sing a Song of Sixpence" so here is my interpretation of the two themes, numbers and feathered friends mixed together with a dash of nursery rhyme mixed in.

Sing a song of sixpence lyrics
(Four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie)
Sing a song of sixpence a pocket full of rye,
Four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie.
When the pie was opened the birds began to sing,
Oh wasn't that a dainty dish to set before the king?
The king was in his counting house counting out his money,
The queen was in the parlour eating bread and honey
The maid was in the garden hanging out the clothes,
When down came a blackbird and pecked off her nose!

Hope you enjoy!

I've Got the Blues

Today over at Mixed Media Monday...

This week the wonderful Gerda returns with another challenge for us - monochromatic colours. So, your task, should you choose to accept it (where have I heard those words before) is to create a piece using only one colour, in different shades. This can sometimes be a challenge, but the effects can be amazing. Have fun everyone!

This is a challenge that we did with COF and it was very very difficult truly a challenge. I have revisited this challenge numerous times but this is my favorite piece that I have done and I am not even a big fan of blue. The papers used were both made by me using various techniques and the image (even though it does not look entirely blue) is a very light blue but is showed up white when scanning...

I hope you enjoy. Please remember to stop by One Powerful Hour this week...the hint for the next challenge is already up.

The Pen Pals

Today over at Think Monday Think ATC the theme is to create two ATCs with at least one image connecting the two ATCs. Bear in mind that the two ATCs should also look nice on their own.
A few weeks ago I received an order from Alpha Stamps in it was the Pen & Ink Clear Stamp Set and I just had to use it...after all I bought it LOL. So I sat down and worked out my design.

For the base of the ATC I decided to use old book print that I colored with the Weathered Wood Distress ink by Tim Holtz. I then stamped in black the "New Penmanship" images. The women are from a really old issue of Somerset Studios, I cut out two of the woman and put them on opposite sides of the ATC's. On a separate sheet of card stock I stamped the pen nibs and cut them out, before mounting them using 3D tape I spread black glitter all around the edges.

I finished this piece really quickly so I thought I would go see what Mixed Media Monday's challenge was...and low and behold it fit in with my current piece!
This week we have the wonderful Willy as our guest host. Willy has chosen “pens and pencils” as the theme. So the challenge to you is to make a piece, using something to do with pens and/or pencils. As always, the interpretation is open to your imagination. Have fun
On top of all that I am going to use these ATC's for the Alpha Stamps Monthly Lot o Rama...talk about combing projects! And i didn't even know I was.
Below I have included the original collage images that I took my "Pen Pal's" from and a larger image of the Pen Pal Left and Pen Pal Right.

Thanks for looking and as always any and all comments/critiques are welcome
